Such a shame because it really is a great charming experience otherwise. Have you found a solution in the year since you posted this, or have you just given up? I managed to finish the game, running into multiple other glitches along the way. This is my very first experience with Grim Fandango and it was great until now. Why the hell is this part of the game so broken? It looks like these same bugs have been around since 2015 so i guess I just have to deal with it. Couldn't interact with the tar pit again either. So I tried to leave the area but it wouldn't let me. I assume the beaver was supposed come down from the ledge but it looks like it was stuck. Threw a bone in the tar pit and nothing happened. I Reloaded my save file again and went to the beaver dam this time. Every time I interacted with it I got transported back to the beginning area with the secret tunnel. Got out of the car this time to look around, but could't get back in. So I had to reload my save file and get to that point again. I interacted with the wheelbarrow and Manny disappears, the screen gets darker, the camera gets stuck in top down view, and the only thing I can do is look at my inventory. I went to the area with the tree and wheelbarrow.
